If you suffer from lack of motivation to workout regularly & consistently, I suggest building exercise in the morning into your daily routine.Get up & do something physical to kick start every day!
Some days, a 10-minute walk may be all that you can fit in, other days a 20-minute intensive workout will hit the spot, or a long run if you have time.
Early bird exercise: the benefits
- The vast majority of people who exercise consistently choose the early morning slot for workouts. Bagging this section of the day means there is less chance of a hitch (or excuse) arising to stop you doing it.
- Ambitious at work? Exercising before you hit the office will give you mental focus & ‘the eye of the Tiger’ to perform at your best.
- Exercising early in the morning boosts your metabolism for hours, which helps you burn more calories throughout the day.
- Getting a rush of adrenaline & endorphins straight after getting up means you really do ‘rise & shine’ & feel more full of energy to deal with those high maintenance kids all day….
- Exercise gives you a healthier frame of mind – you’re more likely to make good food choices if you start the day with a workout.
- Early morning exercise can quickly become something to look forward to, a moment of clarity before daily stresses take hold.
- Exercising first thing is the only way to be sure that something else won’t crop up that kicks your workout off the agenda.
- Getting your blood pumping boosts your circulation & gives you a blooming complexion. After your shower, you’ll look radiant!
- When you get home from work, your evening will be your own – time to be with your family, eat nice food, & power down.
- You’ll sleep better with daily exercise licked… If getting up early to work out helps you establish a routine, a better sleep pattern will follow.
So, next time you say, “I didn’t have time to exercise today”, be honest – if you’d have got up 30 minutes earlier, you could have made time, right?
It’s pretty magical really… you can add time to your day without squeezing anything out! &, though you think you need that 30-minutes kip more than you need to be up with the larks, sweating through a workout, you really don’t.
You won’t feel more knackered for starting an early morning exercise routine, if anything you’ll be energised. & you’ll feel rested because you’ll be sleeping better (and perhaps even making it to bed a bit earlier).
Try it, it will all fall into place, & you will reap huge rewards.
Let me know how you get on.
